Hi, I’m Grace Kouvelis
I’m a clinical psychologist who has had extensive experience working within various therapeutic contexts across my career. I am passionate about supporting clients with life transitions, identity exploration, and through stressful life events. I work in a collaborative and compassionate manner with adults presenting with a variety of challenges, including anxiety, depression, relationship issues (including LGBTQIA+ relationships), low self-esteem, and grief and loss. I also work with neurodiversity and individuals adjusting to physical health conditions (including a cancer diagnosis). I aim to create a safe and validating space for individuals to explore and unpack their presenting concerns and work toward meaningful goals.
My Experience
Over the years, I have gained valuable experience providing evidence-based psychological assessment and therapy in university psychology clinics, private practice, and public health services. I have worked with a range of presenting challenges (e.g., anxiety, stress, mood disturbance etc.), and worked closely with neurodivergent individuals (ADHD and autistic adults) and the LGBTQIA+ community. I also have worked within psycho-oncology services (providing psychological support to individuals with a diagnosis of cancer) in both NSW public health and non-for-profit organisations. I am extremely passionate about supporting individuals with cancer improve their well-being and quality of life and manage the adjustment challenges and associated distress.
My Approach
My therapeutic approach is compassion-focused, collaborative, and tailored to your individual needs. I practice with evidence-based modalities and primarily utilise Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Schema Therapy. I frequently implement mindfulness skills within session when relevant to increase your ability to be engaged with the present moment. Therapy may also work on building emotion regulation and distress tolerance strategies. I aim to provide a warm and comfortable space to unpack and explore your presenting concerns while therapeutically working toward identified goals.
